Business Training Method
For eleven years the Polmear ambache Duo have been using techniques from the Arts as a way of encouraging insights into effective behaviour in a business context. Central to all their courses is the preparation and performance of a 'show' of music and readings of prose and poetry, with the participants performing the readings and the duo providing the music.

By working together on a genuine task, but one that is completely different from their normal activities, participants are enabled to leave behind their preconceptions about how to operate. Yet the task in fact involves individual endeavour and teamwork, effective communication, the ability to give and receive feedback, active listening, and presentation.

Above all, the experience creates an atmosphere of openness and honesty, in which participants look again at their own business practices. The realisations people have remain in their thinking long after the details of the course are forgotten.

Do you have be 'artistic' to come on these courses?
No. In fact some of the most spectacular (and moving) results can come from people who don't regard themselves as artistic. What the duo aim to do during the rehearsal and performance process is to enable people to get access to parts of themselves they don't normally bring into a business context.
Is there any humiliation involved?
Absolutely not! Our approach is friendly and low-key, and we encourage things out of our clients, not bludgeon them. There is a lot of laughter on our courses, and no-one has cried yet. Having said that, everyone on the course does some performing (unless it's a very large group), so there should be a general willingness to 'have a go'.
