While she still thinks that the Himalayas provide the most inspirational setting for a walk, she has been pleased to find that there are beautiful walks to be had nearer home. A former concert pianist, she champions the performance of music by women composers with an information website, and has written three books. Jeremy Polmear Jeremy first remembers walking as a child on Herne Bay pier in Kent. It was a kind of linear walk - out and back. He has walked for many years in Wales and Scotland, but his biggest surprise was to discover the superb variety of walking in the Tramuntana mountains of Mallorca.
